The player finder shows people you could really ask: around your level, in your sport, nearby and free when you are. Then you send a challenge to one person, with sensible limits so that nobody gets pestered.

How it works
Players are matched on how close a game you would have, so even, close and a stretch mean the same at every level. Nearby means the same town, region or country: SetMatcher never uses your address, postcode or exact location, and people who keep their town private do not appear in a nearby search. Free time comes from the morning, afternoon and evening slots you each fill in for the week.
You can suggest a different time up to four times between the two of you, which is two suggestions each, and every suggestion has to include a new time. That way a challenge cannot be kept going forever without an answer.
After two refusals, you stop asking.
You can have five challenges waiting at once, and only one with the same person. A challenge stays open for two weeks, and no answer counts as a no. After someone declines, you wait two weeks before asking again, and after a second refusal you cannot ask again unless they challenge you. Whether someone has blocked you, is not taking challenges or cannot be found, you see the same message, so nobody can work out who blocked them.
