SetMatcher

Cookies and storage

What SetMatcher keeps in your browser, why, and for how long.

In short

  • No cookies. SetMatcher does not set a single one.
  • Nothing from another company unless you ask for it: no analytics, and no fonts or scripts from anybody else’s servers. Advertising is the one exception, and only where you have agreed to it in a question of its own.
  • One question: whether we may remember your choices on this device. Everything else listed here is needed for the service you use, so it is kept without asking.

Needed

Without these, the service you use does not work.

Always on
  • Keeps you signed in. Stored as auth_token · Until you sign out, or until you close the tab if you chose not to stay signed in
  • Your answer to the question on this page, and when you gave it. Stored as setmatcher_consent · Until you change it or clear your browser's data
  • The language you picked. Stored as setmatcher_lang · Until you change it or clear your browser's data
  • Whether you switched on quiet hours for notifications. Stored as setmatcher_quiet_hours · Until you change it or clear your browser's data
  • Whether you switched on the weekly digest. Stored as setmatcher_weekly_digest · Until you change it or clear your browser's data
  • That you objected to error reports. Only there if you did. Stored as setmatcher_error_reports · Until you change it or clear your browser's data
  • A problem report you are still writing while signed in, so a reload does not lose it. Stored as setmatcher_bug_report_draft · Until the report is sent or discarded, or you sign out
  • What you entered while there was no connection (a score, or a press at the tournament desk), so it is sent once there is one, and the server’s answer if it was not accepted. Stored as setmatcher_outbox · Until it has been sent, or its answer read, and always until you sign out
  • For administrators only: whose view of the app is being seen, and the way back. Stored as setmatcher_impersonation · Until the view ends
  • That you said no to notifications on this device, so you are not asked again. Only there if you did. Stored as setmatcher_push_ask · Until you change it or clear your browser's data
  • Your answer to the advertising question, so it is asked once rather than on every visit. Stored as setmatcher_ads_consent · Until you change it or clear your browser's data

Your choices

Kept on this device only if you choose Remember. Otherwise they last until you close the tab.

Only if you agree
  • The sport you were last looking at. Stored as setmatcher_sport · Until you change it or choose Don't remember
  • The filters and order you left the ranking board in. Stored as setmatcher_rankings · Until you change it or choose Don't remember
  • The sport you last looked at in each group that plays more than one. Stored as setmatcher_group_sport · Until you change it or choose Don't remember

Error reports

When a page breaks, this browser sends a technical report to our own server so we can fix it: the error, the page's address without anything after the question mark, your browser's name and version, and your last steps as page addresses and the kind of button pressed. Never what you typed or read, and not who you are. Reports are kept in our server's logs for 14 days.

Nothing is stored in your browser for this. It rests on our legitimate interest in a service that works (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), so you can object here. A report you send yourself with Report a problem is separate: it carries what you choose to include.

Send error reports from this browser On: a page that breaks tells us so.

Advertising

Advertising is its own question, separate from the one on this page and never rolled into it: no advertising script is loaded at all until you have agreed to it, refusing is as easy as agreeing, and the answer is changed here or in your settings. Nothing about you is ever handed to an advertiser, and anybody on SetMatcher Plus sees no advertising anywhere, whatever they answer.
